Textiles
Nicky Heard is an award winning, multi disciplinary artist with a love of the natural world and the creatures within it. She has, through experimenting with various media, developed a fascination for close up details and texture. Working with wool has been a technique developed from interests exploring a more tactile and unusual method of ‘painting’. Various types of wool and fibres are applied onto a canvas surface using needle felting techniques to replicate effects of painting and blur the boundaries between art and craft. Nicky’s original works are predominantly wildlife and they vary greatly in scale from small canvases up to 1m x 1.5m. Copies of many of her pieces are then handprinted onto a range of products including homeware and gifts. She also produces kits to enable others to share her knowledge and skills.
