Printmaking
Sarah’s work is rooted in observations of the man-made world – items such as tools and how they evoke ideas and memories or man-made surfaces and how they have been weathered and worn by time and use. In a recent suite of etchings her concerns were purely with the interplay of line, shape, texture and colour. Some images have more of an architectural feel, where shapes relate to one another or have a sense of movement or balance. Sarah is a printmaker and works in Etching, Collagraph and Carborundum printing. Her work is sometimes printed using the viscosity method of printing. This technique creates vibrant colours and glazes in her finished prints. Sarah’s most recent works are print collages one series of prints on the theme of Industrial and Urban spaces, another series with Circus as the theme. Here she uses photographic imagery, and printed elements with dramatic composition and bold colours.
