Kate originally graduated from art college as a printed textile designer where she discovered her love for painting in gouache, using bold colour and her obsession with decorative pattern.
Her paintings reflect this love of pattern along with a very stylised approach to capturing botanicals, nature and food which tend to be her main subject matter.
About The Artist
After working for over twenty years in the fashion industry Kate moved into illustration and started looking for different subject matter. This came in the form of nautically inspired design, living by the sea has that effect, and along with a friend she started the design company Port and Lemon.
The company still runs today supplying many coastal retail businesses with nautically inspired homeware and stationery. Kate licences her artwork to the company but now works independently.
Much of her time is now taken up with teaching, both online and face to face. She runs the Art club at Warsash SC as well as Artfest an annual event for local creatives to exhibit and sell their work.
As well as selling her work online Kate also exhibits at local shows such as The Titchfield art show and The Hampshire artist open studios.
