Aisling is a printmaker working in Hampshire. She is self taught in lino printing and is branching out into wood engraving. Her graphic design background plays a part in her work, married with the shapes and patterns found in the natural world.
While her lino work is generally quite lighthearted, her wood engraving is beginning to explore human emotions, it’s intricacies and patterns, resulting in work that aims to illustrate some of the tangle of feelings we all experience.
About The Artist
Aisling has been printmaking for 6 years. She studied Graphic Design at Leeds Polytechnic many years ago. She worked as a photographer and graphic designer for some years before moving to Hampshire from Dublin. She is based in the South Downs where she works primarily from a studio in the garden.
Often an idea will generate in her head because of a photo she has taken or something she has seen. She will sketch out ideas either in a sketch book or on her iPad and then translate them to either lino or a wood block, depending on how the drawing looks.
