Printmaking
Distinctively modern, with clean lines and vibrant colour, Margot’s prints resonate with her fascination for the natural world. Using both relief and intaglio methods in her printmaking, Margot experiments with multi block plates to achieve many clean colours, making both etching and lino prints. Utilising aquatint on zinc & steel plates produces etchings with linear detail . Her lino prints, also multi block, or sometimes reduction, produce layers of vibrant colours.
All Margot’s work is hand made by herself, from the inspiration for the image to the making of the plate, to hand inking the plate & processing it though the press onto archival paper. Printmaking is a wonderful process which reveals itself when the print is pulled from the press. I never really know exactly how it will turn out.
Margot’s work consists of framed and mounted limited edition prints, and greetings cards.
About The Artist
Margot is a fine art printmaker working from her studio at home in Southampton. Margot’s artistic journey has taken her from art college, though fashion, visual merchandising to her current incarnation as a fine art printmaker. Her images start from sketches taken on walks with her dog Hector, or photos wile snorkelling in the ocean.
Constantly learning new techniques and ideas, Margot loves to regularly attend courses run by well known fellow printmakers. She also has on occasion run one to one tuition in her studio.
