Makers Day Out

Makers Day Out offers you the chance to meet other creatives to learn, be inspired and make connections.
Set in one of the inspiring old factory units at The Guild Wiltshire, you’ll have the chance to see and hear how this venue is being transformed into a unique destination with creativity at its heart. As well as sharing their exciting concept to create a shared maker space as part of The Guild portfolio, Artful Collective have curated a programme of talks and activities to keep you entertained.
Come along for the whole day or just dip in for a part of it. The programme of events is still being tweaked but here’s a taster of what to expect.
10am – Coffee, Cake & Chat
10.30am – Introducing ‘Makers at The Guild’
Hear from Artful Collective about their vision for a shared maker space at The Guild. A creative hub including studios, creatives co-working, workshop and event space. Contribute your ideas and feedback and be the first to sign up for more details.
The holiday season is the busiest time of year for most, and especially for small creative businesses who might be hoping to build their customer base as well as sell their artworks and services.
In this talk, Laura Mulhern, founder of arts marketing agency Storiie as well as creative business support platform Plan Make Do, will walk through the key areas to consider to raise your profile, build a customer base and achieve sales during this busy period. Laura will also talk about things to consider to nurture and maintain your customer base after the Christmas rush.
This talk will include:
- How to ensure your social media presence and website is in the best shape it can be for the holiday season
- Top tips for building a mailing list
- Top tips for the crucial follow up with customers after the holiday season is over
There will be 15 minutes at the end of the talk for general Q&A with Laura.
12pm – Lunch (bring your own or buy on site from Herbs & Wild)
1pm – Drawing Outside The Box with Elizabeth Hammond
45 minutes of creative playtime with paper, ink and pencils!
You’ll be encouraged to see things differently and experiment with drawing in new ways. Please bring a sketchbook, 2B pencil and a rubber. All other materials will be provided.
The Archive Fine Art Gallery is an independent gallery which opened in the Summer of 2020. Rose will share some of her experiences and lessons learned during her career to date working in galleries, and offer advice to artists wanting to develop connections in this field. There will be time for your questions.

Tickets cost £10 (free for Artful Collective Members)
includes all talks & activities plus coffee and cake.
(If you can’t stay for the whole day that’s fine, you are welcome to join whenever you’re able to, however the ticket price will still be charged at the day rate.)
